RIFM Supports Fragrance Industry Response to Campaign for Safe Cosmetics Recent Publication

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics (CSC) has published a report (May 12, 2010) entitled "Not So Sexy—The Health Risks of Secret Chemicals in Fragrance" found on, which misinforms the public about the safety of the ingredients used by the fragrance industry in consumer products.

Responding statements have been issued by the Fragrance Materials Association of the United States, and The Personal Care Products Council, The Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA), The Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association (CCSPA) and the Soap and Detergent Association (SDA) are also issuing a joint statement refuting the CSC report.

RIFM has contributed information to and supports these industry responses and will continue to promote credible research to support the safe use of fragrance ingredients globally to protect the consumer and the environment.
