RIFM and REXPAN are exploring research on in vitro Sensitization methods that are in line with those promoted by The Johns Hopkins Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing (CAAT) to replace existing techniques. The goal is to minimize the use of animals in testing, resulting in faster and more cost effective technology.

Plans are to support ongoing research on in vitro methodologies that are consistent with European regulations and conform to the 3Rs: Replacement, Reduction and Refinement, as noted by CAAT.
