The common characteristic structural element of acyclic (noncyclic) and cyclic terpene alcohols is the typically branched isoprene unit (2-methyl-1,3-butadiene). Materials covered in this assessment contain two (monoterpenes), three (sesquiterpenes) or four (diterpenes) isoprene units.
