RIFM Respiratory Safety Project: Indoor Air Quality

Over the past several decades there has been an increase in the use of fragranced products and awareness of odors.  Some of this awareness focuses on public perception regarding the decrease in indoor air quality (IAQ). more

New IFRA Standard

The recently distributed 37th Amendment to the IFRA Code of Practice includes a revised Standard on Cinnamic alcohol, and new Standards for BMHCA and HMPCC. The links to the Standards can be found on the individual material pages under the Status section in the RIFM Fragrance and Flavors Ingredients Database. The 37th Amendment also includes Annex 1 on  indicative maximum levels of limited substances in different fragrance materials (e.g. in essential oils).

Environmental Framework Model

The RIFM Database now offers users the ability to screen materials following the methodology of the RIFM Framework. The Excel spreadsheet link Environmental Framework allows the user to input log Kow, molecular weight and volume of use and the model will estimate the risk quotient PEC/PNEC based on default values for Europe as defined in the paper. FFIDS's Available Online

There are now over 100 materials with FFIDSs available on-line in the RIFM/FEMA Database. Click on "FFIDSs On Line" from the Home Page, then click on the individual material of interest, and scroll down to the "Published FFIDS" link on the material page! Members only section.
