RIFM Welcomes Lambros Kromidas, Ph.D.
Lambros Kromidas, Ph.D. joins RIFM as Vice President, Risk Assessment. He will be responsible for setting the objectives and managing timelines to ensure that RIFM’s fragrance material safety evaluations are completed on time and include appropriate scientific advances in research and methodology.
Dr. Kromidas most recently served as Product Integrity, La Prairie Inc., Beiersdorf AG, Hamburg, Germany. For the past 15 years, he held management positions in the Cosmetic/Personal Care industry at Avon and Coty and provided strategic product safety, regulatory, and advertising counsel to promote finished products. During his career, Dr. Kromidas managed programs in Toxicology, Clinical Testing, Claims Substantiation, Microbiology, Regulatory Affairs, and Consumer Affairs to drive brand optimization strategies and commercial awareness.
Before joining the Consumer Goods industry, Dr. Kromidas held academic and federal government positions.
Dr. Kromidas earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biological Sciences from St. John’s University, Jamaica, N.Y., where he trained in Toxicology, Immunology, and Microbiology. He also held a Post-doctorate position at Cornell University Medical College, Department of Physiology, New York, N.Y.
Dr. Kromidas is a member of the Society of Toxicologists and the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. As an active member of the Cosmetic Industry worldwide, he participated in several committees to address product safety, product claims substantiation, regulatory and sustainability issues. He has published several articles and most recently co-edited a book entitled: Formulating, Packaging, and Marketing of Natural Cosmetic Products, that includes a chapter on “Regulatory and Safety Aspects of Natural Fragrance Ingredients” written by RIFM and IFRA staff. Dr. Kromidas also presents regularly on diverse industry topics, including “green” cosmetics, and scientific claims substantiation.
